Why do we buy all the stuff we have? Is there a pricetag on salvation? Join Rev. Billy's old-time revival tour as he crusades against the commercialization of Christmas, faith and life in general.
Produced by Morgan Spurlock (SUPER SIZE ME), this film about a cross-country search for truth and justice drew multiple standing ovations at the 2007 SXSW Festival. With soul-stirring and satirical songs of praise, Rev. Billy (born Bill Talen) and the Church of Stop-Shopping Choir raises the roof - and consciousness - outside America's malls and big box stores, to the chagrin of local police and security guards. When Rev. Billy gets nabbed for preaching outdoors, he makes a stand for the First Amendment and all our rights: whatever happened to the idea of public space? Why has 'downtown' been turned into a corporate-owned, privately-patrolled mall experience?
Confess your consumer sins, join the choir and sing: WHAT WOULD JESUS BUY.
"As entertaining as it is jaw dropping." -Toddy Burton, AUSTIN CHRONICLE
"The roof-raising cross between Billy Graham and Bill Clinton." -Peter Howell, TORONTO STAR

I saw the film at South by Southwest and it is incredible. It made me think about what I'm buying---where does the product come from, and why I should care.
Bravo! Well done. Funny and deadly serious at the same time.

Very funny film. If you liked "Super-size Me!" you will like this even more. I saw it in a festival in Washingto, D.C. this summer and it was funny as hell!!!!!! I plan on seeing it again now that we are getting close to Christmas and all that crazy stuff that happens after Thanksgiving. People in the country actually die shopping!!!!!

The message of limiting our consumption carries through to almost every aspect of our lives. Credit card debt, intellectual apathy and $96 oil are all inextricably linked to our desire, as a nation, to obtain, devour and rend useless anything and everything.
This movie connects the dots with a sense of humor, a sense of humanity, and a bit of old fashioned horse-sense.
The release is timed perfectly ahead of the horrors of the Christmas shopping insanity. What could be a better gift this year? Treat your friends and family to a viewing of a movie that will change the way all of you approach the holiday season.

I hope everyone will see this movie. It's a comedy and a tragedy. Lets all give the gift of a real holliday season that doesn't include harming children, cloging up the world with junk, or shoving each other out of the way.
Bravo Billy and Choir for spreading the good word!

I just saw this film this evening. It is refreshing to have great people deliver potent messages + insights flavored with humor. Hopefully, this film will have impact on people all across different demographies -- and to inspire individuals to take a look at their own lives and fully understand that a shift in awareness is required before social progress in our society can become reality.

I am so proud to have been a part of this "Whopper" of a movie! "What would Jesus Buy" was a very shocking and sobering experience for me. I've learned so much about my own shopping addictions and how people are truly suffering because of debt and ignorance. Working with Rev Billy and The Church of Stop Shopping has been a great education for me. Being on the Shopocalypse tour was very life altering. I'm accustomed to being pampered and buying everything in sight regardless of how that would affect our health, economy,or consciousness.

i also haven't seen the movie yet (and can hardly wait). being from nyc i have experienced rev. billy and the stop shopping choir in action many times. i always enjoy them greatly and and can't help but laugh my head off every single time. with outstandingly clever humor billy and crew take on one of the largest viruses that has befallen the citizens of this country: SHOPPING.
i intend to invite all my friends because i know it will be a great film and that they will enjoy it.
stop shopping today!

I saw a screening of this film earlier this year and it was fast moving, informative and a lot of laughs.
It shows the USA in all its glory of shopping addiction and having too much stuff.
It makes you think and laugh at the same time.
I will go see it again.

Brilliant. A film that goes right to the heart of a very pressing issue in our society. May this film help bring us back into balance. So Mote it Be.

As the Rev says, Be people, not Sheeple! Whenever I feel need to feel liberated, I just go see what the fantabulous, wholly holy Church of Stop Shopping is up to. The film is an excellent intro to their world-changing, life-and-sanity-saving work. It's funny, it's touching, it's got art, theater, music and a really cute baby in a parking lot. What more could you want? And whether the Rev realizes it or not, I think the high point of the mission was when he dove into that shrub -- it is when we think that no one notices our efforts but we continue to work anyway that our struggles are the most humble and touching, and therefore have the most power after all. Y'all stop shopping, and be free!

Very timely topic coming around the Christmas shopping season where we less wise men and woman worry about buying gifts for others when all we really need to give is our whole lives to the little child Jesus every day of the year. If we do this much we would not be interested in exploiting the poor with slave labor and we'd make every effort and sacrifice to put a stop to this injustice. Thanks for exposing the hearts and minds of God's busy and bargin addicted people with this film! Peace and GOOD will to you all!

I am coming up to the city just to see this Sunday. I am bringing friends. This is a powerful message and with the gospel choir and the reverend, there couldn't be a better delivery. We can all use a little distance and maybe objectivity to help temper the need to satiate ourselves with products, which is certainly perpetuated every day. Looking forward to a good laugh!

The Reverend, Choir, and Band are fabulously entertaining (I ve seen them live many times), and their message, if acted upon by enough people, could save the planet. And it is something each of us can do alone and beginning right this minute--we don't have to wait to vote in an election, to join a demonstation, to organize a write-in campaign, etc. All we have to do is STOP BUYING SWEATSHOP SHITE! Change-aluia!

i saw the reverend and the choir this past summer and they are all brilliant. the live performance has a sense of humor ans at the same time making sure everyone in the audience gets the message!! the choir members and the musicians are the best. i am happy to have seen the show in a rather small venue, as this show needs and can handle a very large stage. i can not wait to see the movie!!!

I have never loved a group of people so much as i do with this choir...

I love this movie and I haven't even seen it yet! And we'd like to. So, could you extend the run through the weekend until we can make the trip down from the hills of upstate NY to see the show? Thanks. PS stopped shopping some time ago for the most part and the blood pressure has gone down significantly.

I lost 26 lbs on the 43 day plan and LOVE IT! I was afraid at first that I'd never last on the 500 cal diet. The first 5 days or so I was hungry and had cravings, but then they were gone and it was really easy! I was amazed how quickly I lost pounds and inches & jumped out of bed every morning to go weigh myself. I am very glad that I decided to try HCG and am thrilled with the results. My husband is going into his second week and already lost 9 lbs! I plan on doing a second round, probably in August. This is a great diet if you not only want to lose weight fast, but also if you want to get rid of your "junk" food cravings once and for all and retrain yourself to follow a healthy eating lifestyle.
