 For the last 60 years, the term "Jewish boxer" has been an oxymoron. But Dmitriy Salita, a 24 year-old Russian immigrant is making history as a top professional boxer and a rigorously observant Jew. While providing an intimate, 3-year long look at the trials and tribulations faced by an up and coming professional boxer, ORTHODOX STANCE is a portrait of seemingly incompatible cultures and characters working together to support Dmitriy's rare and remarkable devotion to both Orthodox Judaism and the pursuit of a professional boxing title.
The film travels with Dmitriy from his home in the Russian section of Brooklyn to a dilapidated Orthodox synagogue, from a Black and Hispanic amateur gym in the projects to boxing's biggest stages in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Puerto Rico. Intimate verite scenes of torah study, prayer, and keeping kosher and observing the Sabbath on the road are juxtaposed with training, weigh-ins, business negotiations and locker room and fight footage. In so doing, the film reveals a first-of-its kind insider's view of professional boxing and a first-of-a kind professional boxer.

Dmitriy became a legend and had great success under promoter Bob Arum. Unfortunatly, due to promotional mal practice and poor management - Dmitriy is inactive since March 2007. He needs people who care about him and will guide him in the right direction. Looks like he is in the desert, and where is jewish support? His promoter hates him, and there is nobody to stand up for the man, who is pride to a lot of jewish people around the world. Looks like he is betrayed by indiference.

Dmitriy Salita won 6 NY State tournaments, 6 inner city tournaments, US Nationals, NY Golden Gloves, and the “Sugar Ray Robinson Award for Outstanding Boxing”. His amateur record was 54-4. He started boxing at the age of 13 at the Starret City Boxing Club. As a pro, he is 27-0 and currently trains at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, NY.

Levi Huebner, a law clerk from Brooklyn, said Salita is a source of pride and hope for the Jewish community. "Every Lubavitcher knows about Dmitry," he said. "For a lot of young kids, he gives them something to be proud of. And then they can be proud of their heritage instead of being nebuchs"-Yiddish for "nothings."
It's not only Lubavitchers that know about Salita. This Chanukah, the young Jewish fighter was invited to the White House holiday party. "It's real the American dream," Salita said after receiving the invitation.

I LOVED it, and I'm not remotely interested in boxing. Dimitry is such a great character: sweet, humble, determined, serious. And the movie tells his story so beautifully. I laughed out loud multiple times, and now I'm dying to see Dimitry fight.

AMAZING. I can't wait for it 2 come out on DVD.
I personally kno Dmitry.
they had 2 move the audeince 2 a bigger theater b/c there was a big turnout.
Aftr the Movie there was a Q&A w/ Dmitry and Jason Hutt.
I recommend it to everybody

What do you expect from a greedy man, who betrayed his own people.
Bob Arum betrayed jews, judaism, he goes against the Rebbe, and it's not good.

catharsic. in the knowing of God without trauma is entrance alive and swell. prior to chapter nine of Genesis more drama no trauma. Commerce sing out. Chapter eleven American Bankruptcy for non-christians [a sabbath of sorts and auto-stay financing roll down like waters of mighty alabama.
