Set in late 90's South Florida, writer/director Chris Fuller’s explosive debut centers around three teenagers trying to make sense of the brutal (and real-life) shooting of Tyron Lewis, a black motorist gunned down by a white policeman — as well as the widespread urban rioting that followed the killing. A “vital alternative to the usual adolescent drama, making even Larry Clark look tame by comparison” (Variety), the film offers an unflinching view of both the aimless frustration of teenage life and the race relations of a not-so-distant past.
Soundtrack features Husker Du, Stiff Little Fingers, DJ Shadow, Billy Bragg, Don Caballero, Hayden, and more.
"4 Stars. Uncompromising...nihilistic to the extreme...in terms of low-budget filmmaking aspiring past its limitations, LOREN CASS is the real deal." Andrew Grant, Time Out New York
"A powerfully unsettling debut...LOREN CASS wants to blow your head off...a starkly lyrical portrait of angry disaffected teens …Fuller's in-your-face artistic precision makes this a radical film." Aaron Hillis, Village Voice
"Announces a genuinely original filmmaking talent...as tough-minded and uncompromising as narrative cinema gets...a film debut of uncommon power and artistic principle." Robert Koehler, Variety
