In WILLIAM KUNSTLER: DISTURBING THE UNIVERSE, filmmakers Emily Kunstler and Sarah Kunstler explore the life of their father, the late radical civil rights lawyer. In the 1960s and 70s, William Kunstler fought for civil rights with Martin Luther King Jr. and represented the famed
"Chicago 8" activists who protested the Vietnam War. When the inmates took over Attica prison, or when the American Indian Movement stood up to the federal government at Wounded Knee, they asked Kunstler to be their lawyer.

To his daughters, it seemed that he was at the center of everything important that had ever happened. But when they were growing up, Kunstler represented some of the most reviled members of society, including rapists and assassins. This powerful film not only recounts the historic causes that Kunstler fought for; it also reveals a man that even his own daughters did not always understand, a man who risked public outrage and the safety of his
family so that justice could serve all.

"A magnificent profile of an irrepressible personality."
Indiewire

"Expertly put together and never less than compelling."
The Hollywood Reporter

"A perfect balance of the personal and the public."
Salt Lake City Weekly

Bill represented me for 5 years, and he was nothing short of brilliant. I will see the film today and post my views later from a former client's perspective.

It is a beautiful and important film - especially for those of us who weren't around or old enough to understand how he helped people while championing civil rights (speaking as a Generation X-er).

An excellently crafted film and a call to a new generation to take up the causes our parents put on hold in order to raise us.

I was a Panther during the time Bill was doing his thing, educating and liberating people. Just wish he and Charles Garry was still around.

The only thing in an excellent film, I didn't get was the filmmakers fear of their fathers defense of a terror suspect.

There was therefore a gap in describing the fight against the secured systemic pre-conviction of alleged criminals via their lack of "zealous" defense.

Bill is a huge American hero, when they teach about him in history it should be as the latter 20th century's zealous defense.

We sorely are in need of William Kunstler now.
I went to see the movie with my son and grandchildren.
I wanted them to see a slice of America rarely see in the
mainstream media.
