CHASING ICE -
(unrated) 2012 - USA - English - 76 minutes - Submarine Deluxe
Directed by: Jeff Orlowski
Featuring: James Balog, Svavar Jonatansson and Adam LeWinter
Acclaimed National Geographic photographer James Balog was once a skeptic about climate change, but through his "Extreme Ice Survey" he discovers undeniable evidence of our changing planet. In CHASING ICE, Balog deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. His hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate.
Traveling with a young team of adventurers across the brutal Arctic, Balog risks his career and his well-being in pursuit of the biggest story facing humanity. As the debate polarizes America and the intensity of natural disasters ramp up globally, CHASING ICE depicts a heroic photojournalist on a mission to gather evidence and deliver hope to our carbon-powered planet.

Fantastic photography and a real cautionary, as well as educational tale, about global warming and how humanity is destroying the enviroment. Bravo Mr. Balog and his team. Worthy of an Oscar nomination as Best Documentary.
Just got my copy of the book! What a great project and thanks for the notable mention. I particularly like the comments at the beginning, they are bold like the beautiful ice that still stands.
Beautiful documentary worthy of the awards it has won. It is a testimony to the power and vision of one man and those who believe in him. What started out as a project and quest has become a historical recording for mankind. If only every one can see the film, bring awareness and spread the word. Especially the youth of future since they will be our next decision makers and entrepreneurs. I look forward to more of Mr. Balog's work.
Praying............. just praying. Abby is so lucky to have you. I'm cauterpd and can't seem to think about anything but your precious daughter. She is in my prayers constantly. Her pictures just hold me captive. I know your picture taking is great but I think it is your daughter herself that holds my eyes to the frame!hugs to you, I love that you work so hard to give her moments of smiles.
