showtimes and tickets

Jorge (Octavio Gomez Berrios) is a painfully shy Ecuadorian dishwasher toiling away in a shabby Jamaica, Queens diner owned and run by Rick (Mandy Patinkin). Looming over him: the familiar image of the "choking man," the ever-present Heimlich Maneuver instruction poster.

From his solitary kitchen corner, Jorge tries to express his adoration for the newly hired Chinese waitress, Amy (Eugenia Yuan, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA).

The film's touches of magic realism reflect Barron's background as an innovative music video director (he did the giddy, addictive clip "Take On Me," for the Norwegian group A-Ha.")

Winner, Gotham Awards, Best Undistributed Film

"Everything an independent film should be."
-Steven Soderbergh

"Delightful"
- Stephen Holden, NEW YORK TIMES

"An unusual blend of workaday realism...with a splash of animation thrown in for good measure. The movie’s at its best when at its most casual."
-Joshua Land, TIME OUT NEW YORK

This is a special film. You don't have to be an immigrant to relate to the characters, you just have to be a human being living in New York. Different elements incorporated in the film are fresh and artful. I enjoyed it, felt it and just simply loved.

The short description of the Movie is good, but a small clip or clips from the movie would be better..
