TOUCHING DEPICTION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BET A FATHER & A DAUGHTER

March 22, 2023
I SAW "AFTERSUN" AT THE ELEANOR BUNIN CENTER LAST NOVEMBER, BUT I HOPE TO SEE IT AGAIN AT THE CINEMA VILLAGE BECAUSE IT HAS SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT HOW WE NEED TO CONNECT WITH OUR PARENTS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. I WAS SO HAPPY THAT PAUL MESCAL WAS NOMINATED FOR BEST ACTOR BECAUSE HE GIVES THE KIND OF LOW-KEY PERFORMANCE THAT TENDS TO BE OVERLOOKED AT OSCAR TIME. I REALIZE THAT HIS PEFORMANCE WASN'T QUITE AS DEVASTATING AS BRENAN FRASER'S OSCAR-WINNING PERFORMANCE IN "THE WHALE," BUT, IN ITS OWN WAY, IT WAS JUST AS MOVING.
