Devastating Depiction of the Traumatic Experience of a Woman and her Family
February 16, 2022
Director Stacey Gregg created an incredibly moody and murky atmosphere for this film. Her approach gave you so much insight into why Laura believed what she did about Megan. And Ms. Gregg's decision to play a seemingly happy children's song on the film's soundtrack during one of Laura's most agonizing moments gave you even more of a sense of Laura's anguish. This was made even more effective by the way that Andrea Riseborough kept increasing the tension in her portrayal of Laura, and the poignancy of her delivery of her final lines was devastating. All of that- plus the depiction of Laura's husband's and son's reactions to Laura's obsession with Megan - made this a truly memorable film.
