The 6th edition of SR Socially Relevant™ Film Festival New York is scheduled to take place March 15-21, 2019, at Cinema Village and neighboring venues. Program highlights include a documentary on 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr. Denis Mukwege, The Man Who Mends Women by Thierry Michel and a panel on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) concerning women.
The SRFF 2019 program will showcase over 60 films that deal with current social topics such as immigration and refugees, female empowerment, homelessness, human exploitation, gender politics, disability, aging, the environment and our planet’s health, human and animal extinction, and many other timely social issues. Post-screening Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and guest experts, industry panels and workshops, daily happy hours with networking opportunities, opening and closing parties mark the festival week and celebrations.
In its first five years, the festival has successfully served as a platform for 287 films from 35 countries, has offered industry panels covering such topics as distribution, storytelling, diversity casting, funding, marketing, low budget filmmaking, filming in New York, and scriptwriting, and has presented over 40 awards to deserving talented filmmakers from all over the world. Thanks to your support and partnership SRFF has been able to reach larger audiences year after year.
