Kicked out of a small Western town for sinful behavior, free-spirited Alice (Chantelle Albers) and Nora (Hannah James) set out for Virginia City to pursue their dream of opening a restaurant. Out on the prairie, they come across an injured bounty hunter named Elden (Cam Gigandet, VIOLENT NIGHT). Hoping to share in the reward, they nurse Elden back to health and help him stalk his prey, Grimes (Cord Newman). But as Nora and Alice both develop feelings for Elden, no one notices that Grimes is now on their tail, and the hunters become the hunted.

FINAL THOUGHT ON "TWO SINNERS AND A MULE"

April 26, 2023
I JUST WANT TO ADD THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD TO SHOW A NATIVE AMERICAN MAN HELPING A WHITE WOMAN WHEN SHE WAS BEING ATTACKED BY ANOTHER WHITE MAN. IN RECENT YEARS, THERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH CRITICISM ABOUT PEOPLE FROM ONE RACE HELPING MEMBERS OF ANOTHER RACE. FOR EXAMPLE, SPIKE LEE CALLED "THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE" RACIST AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE BECAUSE IT SHOWED A BLACK MAN (PLAYED BY WILL SMITH) HELPING A WHITE MAN (PLAYED BY MATT DAMON). IN ADDITION, A CRITIC FOR "THE VILLAGE VOICE" CALLED THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN MALE NURSE WHO WAS HELPING HARRISON FORD'S CHARACTER RECOVERING FROM A SHOOTING IN "REGARDING HENRY" A "MAMMY" CHARACTER (THAT WAS CERTAINLY AN ODD TERM TO USE BECAUSE, UNLIKE "GONE WITH THE WIND," - WHICH WAS RACIST- THERE WEREN'T ANY JUSTIFICATIONS FOR SLAVERY IN "REGARDING HENRY." ALSO, ANOTHER CRITIC FROM THE VILLAGE VOICE ONCE CALLED "BAGHDAD CAFE" RACIST BECAUSE IT SHOWED A WHITE WOMAN (PLAYED BY MARIANNE SAGEBRACHT) HELPING A BLACK WOMAN (PLAYED BY CCH POUNDER) AND HER FAMILY SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS. I THINK THESE FILMS SHOULD ALL BE CELEBRATED FOR ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO HELP OTHERS W/O REGARD TO THEIR RACE, RELIGION, NATIONALITY, OR GENDER OR SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON "TWO SINNERS AND A MULE"

April 26, 2023
ONE OF THE FACTORS THAT MADE ELDIN'S APOLOGY SCENE SO EFFECTIVE IS THAT DIRECTOR RALEIGH WILSON KEPT THE CAMERA ON ELDIN WHILE HE WAS MAKING HIS APOLOGY & THEN PULLED THE CAMERA AWAY FROM HIM TO SHOW TO WHO M HE WAS ACTUALLY SPEAKING. (I WON'T SPOIL THE SURPRISE FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET). MR. WILSON ALSO USED THE CAMERA EXTREMELY EFFECTIVELY IN THE SCENE WHERE ALICE TELLS ELDIN HOW SHE GOT INVOLVED IN SEX WORK. WHEN HE ALTERNATES BETWEEN USING A CLOSE-UP ON ALICE & USING A TWO-SHOT SO THAT WE SEE HOW ELDIN REACTS TO WHAT SHE'S TELLING HIM & ALSO KEEPS SHOWING ALICE, WE SEE A CONNECTION BEING FORMED BETWEEN THE TWO CHARACTERS. AND MS. ALBERS USE OF A STRAIGHTFORWARD DELIVERY THAT'S MIXED WITH A TONE OF REGRET MAKES THE SCENE EVEN MORE POIGNANT. WE GET THE SAME EFFECT EARLIER WHEN MS. ALBERS USES A NO-NONSENSE TONE TO DELIVER ALICE'S DECLARATION OF HOW "NOONE EVER LOVED US. THEY JUST USED US, AND SOMEDAY THEY'LL GET TIRED OF USING US." THAT SCENE ALONE SUMS UP WHAT LIFE IS LIKE FOR SEX WORKERS.

VERY GOOD WESTERN THAT'S MADE BETTER BY A USUALLY PRO-FEMINIST POV

April 26, 2023
IT WAS CERTAINLY A GOOD IDEA TO SHOW HOW HARD LIFE WAS FOR SEX WORKERS BACK IN THE DAYS OF THE OLD WEST. THIS WAS EXEMPLIFIED BY THE DEPICTION OF THE PROTESTS LED BY THE WIVES OF THE MALE CUSTOMERS WHO CARRIED SIGNS THAT SAID "DOWN WITH WHORES." I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE SEEN THEM CARRY SIGNS THAT SAID "DOWN WITH PIMPS" AND "DOWN WITH RAPISTS & DOMESTIC ABUSERS." HOWEVER, I THINK IT WAS A MISTAKE TO JOKE ABOUT THE MAYOR'S WIFE BEING HUMILIATED WHEN SHE FINDS HER HUSBAND WITH HANNAH (NORA JAMES), AND WHEN THE WIFE FAINTS AND THE SHERIFF ASKS THE MAYOR TO HELP HM PICK HER UP, HE MAKES A HATEFUL REMARK ABOUT HOW "SHE'S NOT EXACTLY UNDERFED." I REALIZE THAT SEX WORKERS HAVEBEEN DEMONIZED BY MISOGYNISTS, BUT FULL-FIGURED WOMEN HAVE ALSO BEEN DEMONIZED & RIDICULED BY MISOGYNISTS. HOWEVER, THE FILM DEFINITELY IMPROVED WHEN NORA & ALICE (CHANTELLE ALBERS) FIND ELDIN (CAM GIGANDET) & SAVED HIS LIFE. WHEN WE LATER HEAR ELDIN MAKE INSENSITIVE REMARKS ABOUT THEIR PROFESSION, WE LEARN HOW MUCH SEX WORKERS & OTHER WOMEN HAD TO PUT UP . FORTUNATELY, ELDIN REDEEMS HIMSELF, &, WHEN HE PRACTICES HIS APOLOGY TO THEM TO HIS MULE, THE CONTRITE TONE USED BY MR. GIGANDET CONVEYS HOW GENUINELY SORRY HE IS FOR WHAT HE SAID.
