A deadpan, slow cinema, minimalist, black & white, NYC art/indie/DIY/underground werewolf noir comedy by Sujewa Ekanayake (Director, Writer, Cinematographer, Editor). Starring Art Shrian Tiwari as Werewolf. Also featuring Kirsten Dwyer, Alia Lorae, Rachel Dixon and others. Music by Kevin MacLeod. Copyright 2018 Sujewa Ekanayake.

"...a beautiful looking picture...excellent performance by Art Shrian Tiwari." - Bobby LePire, FILM THREAT "The cinematography was seamless and controlled...It had an intelligence to it with long scenes that held your attention much in the way of film noir..." - School of Visual Arts instructor and musician Edgar Grana "...great casting, great B&W images, clever scriptwriting, perfect music, gutsy editing and scene-building, both meaningful and funny too..." - Rick Schmidt, filmmaker and author "...an art film that’s just plain damn fun...making references to Jarmusch, Descartes, and The Maltese Falcon all at once." - eric anthamatten, Instructor of Philosophy, The New School

Unconventional Art Film that Howls Out New York

May 27, 2019
Every frame of this film is an alive, unconventional commitment to the New York art scene. It's like Woody Allen got the rights to the Lon Chaney movie, typed up the script sitting under a full moon in a ninja suit, and let the pages escape onto the streets. The major achievement of this film is that there is no actor playing the werewolf ninja, he's the real thing.

If you love Art Comedy or Absurdist Cinema, you will love it!

May 23, 2019
The movie is absurd, but that's in the name - Werewolf Ninja Philosopher. But once you can get past that, it's quite amazing. It's quite funny and very entertaining. It's shot beautifully in true noir style, looks great. Art Shrian Tiwari as the Werewolf Ninja Philosopher is as good it ever gets, he embodies the character with very subtle nuances and makes the character charming, interesting and hilarious at the same time. Very well directed for what it's going for. It's definitely slow, and that could be a problem or an advantage depending on what you like. Slow cinema is coming back and this may be a great example of that. Enjoy it in theater and relaxing weekends afterwards. You will get more, every time you see it. There's nothing like this film out there!

From Film Threat's review

April 30, 2019
From Film Threat's review: "The script by director Sujewa Ekanayake works well, especially if one knows noir tropes very well. The gag about (almost) every woman who Werewolf encounters trying to get to know him better is a fun play on the sexually charged banter that infuses the most famous hardboiled detective stories. I for one found the idea of a Celebrity Crimes Unit existing to be hysterical and happily, the punchline is not overused." It's a werewolf detective solving crimes. Looks great. Funny. See it on the big screen.

Corny Movie bordering Stupid!

April 29, 2019
I saw this movie on a whim because my girlfriend dragged me into it. This has to be one of the worst film experiences in quite some time. First of all, the concept seems to be very unfocused with a specific theme: horror but not too scary, martial arts flick but not enough fight scenes, and the philosophy embraces escapism to the point of complete detachment from reality. Art Shrian is the only saving grace of the flim. I would not recommend anyone to waste their time on this one.
