Though he was not involved in the production of the film, Rich Swingle has been performing a one-man play about Eric Liddell, the subject of On Wings of Eagles, since 2004. He began studying Liddell’s life in 2000, with research at the Eric Liddell Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, with the help of Liddell’s niece, Dr. Peggy Liddell Judge. Since then he’s performed his play Beyond the Chariots (www.RichDrama.com/BeyondTheChariots) for 30 of Liddell’s relatives in Toronto, including Liddell’s three daughters, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, during the Olympics in Beijing, Vancouver, London, and Singapore during the Youth Olympics, among many stops on three continents. Swingle has met with three people who were interned with Liddell in the camp featured in On Wings of Eagles, and he interviewed one of their liberators. Swingle also wrote the first draft and many interview questions for a documentary on Liddell, Olympic Hero in China, for which he provided the English narration. He hopes to release his performance at the Singapore Expo, recorded on the heels of the Singapore Youth Olympics, soon. Sign up for the announcement by clicking updates at www.RichDrama.com.
