Fernando Guzzoni is a Chilean writer-director who has garnered a reputation as one of Chile’s “director’s to watch” after his debut feature film Carne de perro (Dog Flesh), which was written in the Cannes Festival Résidence and won the prestigious San Sebastian Film Festival’s New Director’s prize in 2012. Carne de perro also received the Ingmar Bergman Award (Gothenburg), Best Opera Prima (Havana), Best Actor (Punta del Este), Rail D’Oc (Toulouse), and was selected to screen at more than 30 International Festivals. In 2008, Guzzoni wrote and directed the documentary La colorina, which screened in competition at the Festival des Films du Monde. He was awarded with the Best Director Award in SANFIC and the Best Movie Award, Trieste. JESUS, which has played the renowned Toronto Film Festival and San Sebastian International Film Festival, is Guzzoni’s second fiction film.
