Jen Peedom is a BAFTA nominated director, well-known for her gripping, intimate portraits of people in extreme circumstances. Her credits include the internationally renowned documentaries LIVING THE END, SOLO, SHERPA and most recently, MOUNTAIN.
Her feature documentary SHERPA, produced by Bridget Ikin (Look Both Ways, An Angel at My Table) and John Smithson (Touching the Void, 127 Hours), premiered at the 2015 Sydney Film Festival as the only documentary selected for the Official Competition, before a successful run on the international festival circuit, including Telluride, Toronto, London Film Film festivals. SHERPA was a commercial and critical success, winning multiple awards including the prestigious Grierson Award for Best Documentary at the BFI London Film Festival and receiving a BAFTA nomination in 2016. It became the 3rd highest grossing Australian documentary in history.
Jen has recently completed MOUNTAIN, a cinematic and musical collaboration with the world renown Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) and British writer, Robert Macfarlane. It is narrated by Willem Dafoe. The film premiered at the Sydney Opera House, as part of VIVID and the Sydney Film Festival with live accompaniment by the ACO. The international festival tour to date includes San Sebastian, Bergen, London, Hamptons and Busan International Film Festivals. It will release in cinemas internationally in December 2017. In Australia, the film is now the highest grossing (non-IMAX) Australian documentary of all time, with over $1.9m at the domestic box office.
