Synopsis:

Directed by 25 year-old Serena Dykman, NANA documents her journey with her mother Alice as they retrace her grandmother's Auschwitz survival story. Born in Poland, Maryla Michalowski-Dyamant survived Ravensbruck, Malchow and Auschwitz - where she was the forced translator for the "Angel of Death," Josef Mengele. Maryla dedicated her life after the war to publicly speaking about her survival to younger generations. Alice and Serena, daughter and granddaughter, explore how Maryla's outspoken activism continues today, in a world where survivors are disappearing, and intolerance, racism and anti-Semitism are on the rise.

Special Treat: Director Serena Dykman will host post-screening Q&A's at the Friday & Saturday 7 pm shows!

Profound message to all generations

April 14, 2018
I just love that the director puts herself in the film to make sure the message of tolerance transmit to younger generations. It’s a universal message and it is so beautiful passed on from the powerful, glowing Nana and we are so lucky to get to hear the story of such a strong, inspiring woman that can help us understand how to change our lives today! I feel honored to have seen this film. It was beautiful and personal and needs to be seen by everyone!

I saw this movie at the Cannes Film Festival. Serena Dykman is a visual stunning director, has deep compassion for the subject matter which draws the audience in immediately within the first frame. It was a pleasure to see this film. I expect her to have a very long future in cinema - Stefano Da.
