INFORMATIVE DOCUDRAMA ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
October 31, 2021
I HOPE THAT THIS FILM WILL SERVE AS A WAKE-UP CALL FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT. IN SOME WAYS, IT FELT MORE LIKE A DOCUMENTARY THAN A NARRATIVE FILM BECAUSE THE PEOPLE IN THE FILM SERVED THE PURPOSE OF SHOWING THE LIVES OF ORDINARY PEOPLE IN A MANNER THAT WAS AS CONVINCING AS THE DEPICTIONS OF ORDINARY PEOPLE IN THE 1940'S ITALIAN NEO-REALIST FILMS. I ALSO THOUGHT THAT KRANTI KANADE HAD THE RIGHT COMBINATION OF PASSION AND VULNERABILITY THAT COULD MAKE HIM A POTENTIAL LEADING MAN. I REMEMBER THINKING THAT A BOUT VICTOR BANERJEE WHEN I SAW HIM IN "A PASSAGE TO INDIA," BUT I DON'T THINK THAT AMERICAN AUDIENCES WERE READY FOR A SOUTH ASIAN LEADING MAN THEN. LET'S HOPE THAT THEY WILL BE READY NOW.
